The Basque economy grew by 2.9% in the first quarter compared to the first three months of 2024, a rise higher than the national average, according to the estimate published on Wednesday by the Independent Tax Liability Authority (AIReF).

The autonomous communities of Madrid, Valencia and Andalusia led the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of the year. The economies of these three communities grew by 0.7% in the first quarter compared to the last period of 2024 – one tenth above the state average of 0.6% – according to the estimate published on Monday by the Independent Tax Liability Authority (Airef).
