During underwater excavations off the coast of Adrasan in Antalya, a 2,100-year-old shipwreck carrying some of the most luxurious tableware of the ancient world was discovered. Thousands of ceramic plates recovered from the seabed were found to have survived intact from pre-Christian times to the present day thanks to the clay placed between them.
