Cryobiopsy has replaced surgical biopsy in the diagnosis of the condition commonly known as "hardening of the lungs." This method, performed exclusively at Akdeniz University (AU) Faculty of Medicine in Antalya, involves freezing the area of the lung to be biopsied to -70 to -100 degrees Celsius for 5 to 10 seconds before a sample is taken. To date, 60 patients have undergone lung biopsies using this method.
