The Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, successfully underwent surgery this Friday in a private hospital in Brasilia in which a hip prosthesis was implanted to correct problems in the head of the femur caused by osteoarthritis and that caused him permanent pain, his doctors said.
The surgery to implant hip prosthesis and correct femoral head problems lasted about four hours. Lula also underwent plastic surgery on the eyelids of both eyes.
The doctor added that the Brazilian President took advantage of the hip operation to simultaneously undergo plastic surgery on the eyelids of both eyes, known as blepharoplasty.
