Croatian economist Boros Vujcic, a central banker who defends inflation at higher interest rates, assumes the position of vice president of the European Central Bank (ECB), replacing Spanish Luis de Guindos, for an eight-year non-renewable term.

The Croatian Boris Vujcic will assume the Vice-Presidentship of the European Central Bank (ECB) since Monday, 1 June, replacing Luis de Guindos, who has completed his eight-year term. The Croatian received the endorsement of the European Parliament at his new post on 10 March and subsequently received the formal approval of the European Council to assume the Vice-Presidentship of the ECB since Monday, for an eight-year non-renewable term.
