The 2025 strawberry harvest in Germany reaches a historic low. Brandenburg's farmers are particularly affected with only 640 tons.
Strawberry harvesting in Germany is expected to be as bad as it has been for 30 years. According to initial estimates, farms in Germany expect a harvest of around 75,500 tons of strawberries in the open air, as the Federal Statistical Office reported. This would be four percent less than in the already weak previous year and the lowest harvest volume since 1995.


For outdoor strawberries and outdoor asparagus, the lowest harvest is expected for decades. German consumers could soon find it too expensive
In 2025 asparagus and strawberries were harvested in German fields as little as they have not been harvested in years. Due to the further rising costs, the trend will continue, experts say.
A summer without strawberries is unthinkable. But for many German farmers the cultivation is hardly worth it because of the high costs. And also domestic asparagus is becoming increasingly rare.
