Los Angeles School Superintendent Denies Wrongdoing and Asks for His Job Back During Federal Probe

On Tuesday, Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho broke his silence nearly two weeks after FBI raids, denying wrongdoing and asking the school board to reinstate him.
Sources say the probe appears linked to AllHere, education-technology company that landed a $6 million contract in 2024 and received $3 million from LAUSD before collapsing with founder Joanna Smith-Griffin charged.
Federal agents executed simultaneous search warrants on Feb. 25 at Carvalho's San Pedro home, LAUSD headquarters and Southwest Ranches residence, seizing computers, cell phones and paper records.
The LAUSD Board of Education voted 7-0 to place Carvalho on leave and appointed Andres Chait as acting superintendent during its first meeting since the raids.
While prosecutors say the investigation is ongoing, supporting affidavits remain sealed and grand-jury subpoenas have sought Miami-Dade County Public Schools Foundation records tied to Carvalho's prior contracts.
