IN IMAGES. "Lorient has become a dead city." You are told about the liberation of the Poche de Lorient 80 years ago.

After the Disembarkation in Normandy in June 1944, on Hitler's orders, the Germans retreated to Lorient, a strategic port for them. They remained there until May 10, 1945, when the Americans and the French finally liberated this territory, nine months after the rest of Brittany.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Lorient pocket, buses and boats will be free on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
