- The dog had been let out 15 minutes earlier and fell through variable ice with several inches thick near Goose Pond in Chatham, Massachusetts, while Goose's owner called 911 and resisted going onto the ice, officials said.
- Donned in survival suits, Chatham firefighters were on the ice by 3:30 p.m. and used specialized ice-rescue equipment to pull Goose out in less than two minutes.
- The owner thanked crews, invited responders inside, and officials advised notifying a veterinarian; Chatham Fire Chief Justin Tavano said, `While this incident had a successful outcome, this serves as an important reminder that ice on ponds can be extremely dangerous.`
