Poland Begins to Legally Recognize Same-Sex Marriages From Other Countries

Civil registry offices began recording foreign same-sex marriages after EU and Polish court rulings and a government pledge to recognize them.

Poland on Aug. 22 began to recognize same-sex marriages legally performed outside of the country.

Eight same-sex marriages concluded abroad have so far been registered in the Łódź Civil Registry. Five more applications are pending. A total of thirteen have been submitted to the Łódź City Hall.
