Rugby-South Africa Name Lock Moerat in Starting XV to Face Italy
Salmaan Moerat returns from injury as South Africa use a six-two bench split and keep six uncapped players in reserve, coach Rassie Erasmus said.
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus named a seasoned match-23 for Saturday's Nations Championship test against Italy in Turin, with lock Salmaan Moerat returning to the starting XV.
Returning from neck and toe injuries, Moerat will partner Ruan Nortje in the second row for his first appearance this year.
Captain Siya Kolisi leads a settled side featuring halfbacks Morne van den Berg and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, with Damian de Allende and Jesse Kriel in the centres.
Erasmus emphasized accuracy in execution, stating the team must "play for the full 80 minutes" to lay a strong foundation for the tour.
Following Saturday's clash, South Africa faces France on November 14 and Ireland on November 21, with the tournament finals concluding on November 29.
