Florian Wirtz to Liverpool Transfer Latest as Medical Timeline Emerges - Liverpool Echo
Liverpool has agreed a deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee worth £116 million including bonuses.
The transfer concluded after three weeks of talks during which Wirtz prioritized a move to Liverpool over offers from Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
At 22 years old, attacking midfielder Wirtz has contributed seven goals and seven assists over 31 matches representing Germany and featured for Leverkusen in a Champions League fixture at Anfield this season.
The £116 million fee includes a guaranteed £100 million and up to £16 million in add-ons, which would break the British transfer record previously set by Chelsea's signing of Moises Caicedo for £115 million.
The deal signals Liverpool's intent to continue high spending under head coach Arne Slot, with further signings including Bournemouth's left back Milos Kerkez reportedly targeted.
