Lions LB Jack Campbell still in hospital, but signs positive
The Lions said preliminary indications are positive after Campbell was hospitalized overnight and continues to rest and recover.
On November 1, Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell suffered a serious neck injury during the team's Week 8 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Medical personnel immobilized Campbell on a backboard and transported him to a local hospital for evaluation.
The injury occurred while Campbell tackled Minnesota Vikings tight end Hockenson. Campbell remained motionless on the turf before receiving emergency medical treatment and being loaded onto a backboard.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell confirmed on November 2 that "preliminary indications are positive" regarding Campbell's health. Campbell visited the linebacker in the hospital on November 1, saying the player was in "good spirits."
Jared Goff, Lions quarterback, called the situation "definitely scary," emphasizing Campbell's role as a husband and father. Many teammates attempted to visit the hospital, though Dan Campbell noted Campbell was undergoing tests, limiting access.
Campbell signed a four-year, $81 million contract extension last season. The 26-year-old remains hospitalized with his wife, Megan Campbell, and their young son, Cooper James Campbell, by his side.
