Beth Mead Says It Was a 'No-Brainer' to Sign with Manchester City
Manchester City said Mead, 31, signed after Arsenal’s offer, and the England forward brings 54 Women’s Super League assists to the champions.
On Friday, England international Beth Mead signed a deal with Women's Super League champions Manchester City running until the summer of 2029, ending her nine-year tenure at Arsenal.
Arsenal offered the forward a contract extension, but City tabled an offer with more appealing financial terms and duration; Mead departed the Gunners after winning the WSL title, three League Cups, and a Champions League trophy.
Mead boasts 81 caps for England, scoring 40 goals while contributing a record 54 assists in the WSL, and was a pivotal member of the Lionesses' European Championship-winning squads in 2022 and 2025.
Director of football Therese Sjogran stated, "Beth's achievements in the game speak for themselves, so we're delighted to bring her to the club," as Manchester City aims to build on last season's domestic double.
Excited to start a new chapter, Mead noted the team's playstyle suits her game well; she expressed pride in joining the champions, noting City's ability to extract more from her performance made the decision straightforward.
