Linux Foundation Welcomes Mitsubishi Electric as Gold Member During Open Source Summit Japan

Mitsubishi Electric upgraded its Linux Foundation membership to Gold on Dec. 7, 2025, after over a decade as a silver member, deepening its contributor role, the Foundation announced from Tokyo.
Earlier this year, Mitsubishi Electric established an Open Source & InnerSource Program Office, leveraging its 5,521.7 billion yen revenue to drive enterprise-scale open source innovation.
Recognized contributions include the Serendie design system published November 2024, as part of Mitsubishi Electric's open source efforts, according to the company.
At Open Source Summit Japan, the Linux Foundation announced Mitsubishi Electric's upgrade to gold membership, with Jim Zemlin stating it 'aims to' deepen open-source collaboration.
The upgrade positions Mitsubishi Electric Corporation to strengthen collaboration with the global open-source ecosystem and accelerate innovation at scale in edge components and AI-at-edge work.
