The province of Limburg intends to contribute 5 million euros to a direct connecting road between the Chemelot chemical complex near Geleen and the port of Stein a short distance away. This is intended to significantly reduce traffic congestion caused by freight traffic on the nearby A2 motorway and the Urmonderbaan (N294). The total costs are nearly 20 million euros, the provincial government reports.
