Soccer Club Valencia Says Group Backed by KKR Founders Buys 42% Stake
On Friday, Valencia CF announced that Pitchwise Holdings will acquire a 42 per cent stake in the soccer club, valuing the enterprise at $1.4 billion.
Meriton Holdings, owned by Singapore tycoon Peter Lim, will retain majority control after selling the minority stake, having rescued Valencia from bankruptcy in 2014.
Pitchwise will provide €100 million in fresh capital to help finance the new Nou Mestalla stadium, expected to cost €322 million and open in 2027.
Sports executives Ann Rodriguez and Corey Woolfolk will join Kiat Lim in the ownership group, backed by KKR co-founders George Roberts and Henry Kravis.
The team currently languishes in 19th place out of 20 in La Liga with just one win, facing challenges under Mexican Javier Aguirre following a slow season start.
