Lil Zay Osama Responds to Federal Charges in Winnetka Home Invasion
Prosecutors say the suspects posed as food delivery workers, held a resident captive for about an hour and sought cryptocurrency accounts.
Chicago rapper Lil Zay Osama, known as Isaiah Dukes, and five associates face conspiracy charges in a Winnetka home invasion, with all six defendants entering not guilty pleas to robbery and kidnapping counts.
Prosecutors allege the suspects posed as food delivery workers on March 22, forcing entry into a home where they allegedly held a person captive for about an hour, demanding access to a safe and cryptocurrency accounts.
A seventh suspect was arrested on Tuesday, while Attorney Andrew Boutros for the Northern District of Illinois stated the investigation disrupted a "violent criminal conspiracy" and removed "dangerous individuals from the streets in a matter of days."
Lil Zay Osama maintains his innocence, asserting "I am not what these accusations making me out to be," and expressed faith that truth will emerge in court proceedings.
If convicted, the defendants face severe penalties; the conspiracy to commit kidnapping charge carries a potential sentence of up to life in prison for those involved in the COOK COUNTY scheme.
