Lil Wayne Says He and Drake Have a Vault of Unreleased Music Dating Back to 2014
Wayne said Drake reacted positively after he edited unreleased songs from 2014 and 2015 and sent them to his phone.
- On Tuesday, Lil Wayne revealed on The Joint Venture Show that he has been sending Drake reworked versions of unreleased tracks from 2014 and 2015. Wayne told cohost Craig Carton he frequently edits these old files.
- Collaborating throughout the 2010s, the Young Money duo have been missing from each other's projects in recent years; their last joint efforts occurred in 2021 on Nicki Minaj's 'Seeing Green' and the Certified Lover Boy track, 'You Only Live Twice.'
- Maintaining a competitive dynamic, Wayne and Drake often exchange verses to see who can 'kill' the track, with Drake typically responding to the reworked songs by asking, 'When we dropping this?'
- Confirming they possess 'a whole bunch of unreleased material,' The New Orleans native actively prepares these older recordings for potential distribution, raising the possibility of public release.
- Later this month, Wayne will resume his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour, while Drake is scheduled to kick off a new tour next year, keeping both artists occupied with independent projects.
