The Artemis II crew had barely returned to Earth after orbiting the Moon when Russia announced the details of its lunar program. The plans are impressive—six missions over the next 10 years, the construction of a nuclear power plant, and a telescope on the surface of the moon.

Rosatom is working with Roscosmos to develop an atomic power plant for the Moon with a capacity of up to 10 kW, with a mass of not more than 1,200 kg and an estimated life of 10 years' non-crash work, as described on Space Day by the CEO of Rosatoma, Alexei Lihachev.
