Lifetime ban for former doctor convicted of sexual assault, B.C. college says
Peter Inkpen cannot seek a medical licence in any jurisdiction after the college said his assaults on 3 people breached physician ethics.
On Tuesday, former Vernon doctor Peter Inkpen agreed to never apply for medical licence reinstatement after pleading guilty to sexual assault, according to a decision released by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
The CPSBC determined Inkpen's actions involved one patient and two staff members, constituting a "serious contravention of the professional and ethical obligations of a CPSBC registrant."
While employed at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Inkpen treated a patient for chronic headaches before using an ultrasound instrument on her groin area without consent and providing her alcohol during a research session.
Following his 2024 guilty plea, Inkpen served three years and three months in prison and remains on the national sex offender registry for 20 years after being granted full parole in January.
Restrictions now prohibit Inkpen from applying for a medical licence in any jurisdiction, while those impacted by sexual violence may contact the Archway Society for Domestic Peace for confidential, free assistance.
