António José Seguro today promulgated the diploma that extends the support for the increase of fuels. Still, Minister of Internal Administration refuses to comment on searches in the institution of the PJ.
"I am very concerned about the situation. We are experiencing a moment of extreme difficulty for many Portuguese people whose money, their income, their pension, their salary, does not reach the end of the month," said António José Seguro to journalists, leaving the Estoril Congress Centre, in the county of Cascais, Lisbon district.
In statements to journalists, Seguro says he continues to have confidence in the PJ and has expressed concern about rising the cost of living. President has issued support to certain sectors for rising fuel prices, but says that more action is needed on the part of governments and the European Union in the face of an exceptional situation.
The Head of State argued that governments "have to look at this situation as an exceptional situation" and "protect the sectors that are most vulnerable, both families and businesses".
He surely mentioned that he had the opportunity to address this issue at his audience with Pope Leo XIV on Thursday at the Vatican.
The President of the Republic today expressed "very concerned" about the difficulties experienced in Portugal due to the increase in prices and, without commenting on the government's action, he argued that action, also of the European Union, must be taken.
