Italo Vignoli, co-founder of The Document Foundation, has highlighted the role that both LibreOffice and OpenOffice have played in European digital sovereignty as "two authentic open source office suites", in front of Euro-Office, which he accuses of being "a free clone of Microsoft Office" and of strengthening the sovereignty of the American company.
Euro-Office is launching a new open source office solution from Europe, which aims to position itself as an alternative to Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
Euro-Office launches its version 1.0 today since the Nextcloud Summit. In Nextcloud Hub, the suite will simply be called Nextcloud Office as soon as the next version. The Document Foundation, behind LibreOffice, published yesterday an open letter to nuance the announcement.
