Letter to the editor: My thoughts on the killed wolf that was ‘mistaken’ for a coyote

I have a couple of thoughts regarding the hunter who killed a wolf, having mistaken it for a coyote. First, he should clearly be prosecuted. Wolves are a protected species. Killing them is illegal, even in the case of a mistaken identity. If he deserves clemency, due to remorse or because he reported it right away, that should be for a judge to decide.
