Lethbridge man wins lottery for a 4th time
David Serkin, a resident of Lethbridge, Alberta, won a $1 million Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball jackpot on May 3, marking his fourth lottery win.
Serkin's recent wins include $500,000 in August 2024 and $1 million in November 2024, totaling $2.5 million in less than a year after his first 2013 win.
Serkin has been participating in Lotto 6/49 since it began in 1982, purchased his most recent ticket at a Shell gas station in Lethbridge, and is a retired cancer survivor who enjoys the experience of buying tickets.
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation stated that the odds of winning a jackpot are about 1 in 33 million, and Serkin acknowledged, "I know the odds are astronomical."
Serkin's wife and friends remain surprised by his luck, and he plans a trip to Newfoundland while expressing gratitude and a cautious outlook on future wins.
