Former Portsmouth, Watford, Wolves and Millwall Manager Kenny Jackett Dies, Aged 64
The former Watford midfielder and promotion-winning manager led Portsmouth to a post-war club record of nine straight wins and a 2019 trophy title.
On Thursday, former Watford player and manager Kenny Jackett died at age 64, with the English Football League announcing his passing and tributes pouring in from across the sport.
Born in January 1962, Jackett made 428 appearances for Watford before injury forced retirement at age 28, then earned 31 caps for Wales as an international player.
Overseeing more than 900 matches across four decades, Jackett achieved notable promotions as manager with Swansea, Millwall, and Wolves, establishing himself as a respected figure outside the Premier League.
Wolves credited Jackett with starting their rise from the third tier to European title chasers following his 2013 appointment, while Millwall called him one of their greatest managers.
Jackett served as director of football at Gillingham until stepping down in November 2024 for medical reasons; he is survived by wife Samantha and sons David and Ryan.
