Skier and snowboarder Ester Ledecká has become the best Czech athlete of the year for the third time in her career. The 30-year-old world champion received 1,466 points in the 67th annual journalistic poll, beating speed canoeist Martin Fuksa by 123 points. Hockey player David Pastrňák took third place.
Medals from the world championships in two winter sports decided Ester Ledecká's third victory in the Sportsman of the Year poll. World champion in canoe sprint Martin Fuksa finished in second place, and hockey player David Pastrňák came in third. 231 journalists voted in the 67th annual poll of the Sports Journalists' Club.
Ester Ledecká has won the poll for the best Czech athlete for the third time. It was the first time she had done it in a year in which there was no Olympics. She is just getting ready to start another big show in February. She herself says that it is a "little friend".
