Leaving the V8 in the past: The all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door
Mercedes-AMG revealed its all-electric GT 4-Door, a performance vehicle built on the new AMG.EA architecture launching in GT55 and GT63 variants.
Powering the vehicle are three axial-flux motors from British engineering firm YASA, which promise a 67 percent reduction in weight and length versus traditional radial-flux designs.
The GT63 produces 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque, with the 106-kWh battery supporting 800-volt charging; AMG claims the GT63 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 2.0 seconds.
While official pricing remains unannounced, estimates suggest the electric GT 4-Door will start around $150,000, with the GT55 arriving later this year and the GT63 early next year.
With a 0.22 drag coefficient, the GT 4-Door positions itself to compete against the Porsche Taycan, utilizing an oil-cooled battery system developed with Formula 1 program inputs to sustain high-performance output.

The electrification is no longer incompatible with the high performance. Mercedes-AMG has officially introduced the new GT 4 fully electric Coupé doors, a model that marks a before and after for the German sports division. With a power of up to 860 kW (about 1.115 hp), acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.1 seconds and an autonomy that can reach 700 kilometers, this new model wants to be placed as a reference among luxury electric sports.
