Raekwon Dons ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ On New Album
NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, JUL 17 – Raekwon released his first solo album since 2017 while his Newark dispensary was evicted after falling nearly $500,000 behind on rent and fees, officials said.
- On Friday, Raekwon released his first solo album since 2017’s The Wild, coinciding with the Wu-Tang Clan's final tour wrap-up in Philadelphia.
- To craft the album, Raekwon assembled production featuring contributions from Swizz Beatz, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and Nottz, described as the strongest since Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang.
- Raekwon invited Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Method Man, Nas, Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine and Benny the Butcher, while Rae said in a video, `You throw a beat out and a na be like, 'I like that, I dont like that.' It’s hard.`
- HashStoria, Newark cannabis dispensary, was evicted after nearly $500,000 in unpaid rent, with the notice posted last month at Broad Street.
- With this release, he solidifies his role as a rap elder statesman capable of evolution, and Raekwon isn’t ruling out another Wu-Tang Clan album down the line.
