NBA Draft: Lakers Trade up 1 Spot to No. 24, Select Baylor Guard Cameron Carr
The Lakers added a 21-year-old wing who averaged 18.9 points at Baylor after moving up one spot in a draft-day trade with the Knicks.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers acquired the 24th overall pick from the New York Knicks and selected Baylor guard Cameron Carr in the 2026 NBA Draft at Barclays Center.
Targeting a 3-and-D wing to pair with Luka Doncic, the Lakers sought Carr, who averaged 18.9 points and shot 37.4% from three-point range during his junior season at Baylor.
Boasting a 42.5-inch vertical and 7-2 wingspan, the 20-year-old guard carries historical connection to Lakers lore: his father, Chris Carr, competed against Kobe Bryant in the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest.
To facilitate the move, the Lakers sent the 25th overall pick and cash considerations to the New York Knicks, who used that selection to acquire Spanish guard Sergio De Larrea.
Lakers president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka now faces critical offseason decisions regarding free agents Austin Reaves and LeBron James, both seeking new contracts this summer.
