Kyle Stowers homers and Marlins beat Giants 2-1
Stowers hit his eighth homer and López drove in the go-ahead run as Miami limited San Francisco to four hits.
On Sunday, the Miami Marlins completed a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants with a 2-1 victory. Kyle Stowers homered and Otto Lopez hit the go-ahead double to secure the win.
Stowers opened the scoring by driving a pitch from Giants ace Logan Webb 426 feet into the center-field seats in the second inning. San Francisco tied the game in the third on Casey Schmitt's single.
Five Miami pitchers limited San Francisco to four hits, with Lake Bachar earning his first save of the season. Starter Ryan Gusto struck out six batters over 4 1/3 innings.
Before the game, Miami placed slugger Liam Hicks on the injured list with a back strain. Despite the loss of their home run leader, the Marlins extended their home winning streak to eight consecutive games.
With a 14-4 record this month, the Marlins enter Monday's opener against the Texas Rangers as the majors' hottest team. RHP Tyler Phillips is scheduled to start.
