Karnataka bans sale and manufacture of analogue, non-dairy paneer sold as ‘paneer’ for 1 year
Karnataka has implemented a one-year ban on non-dairy paneer to safeguard public health and consumer interests. This decision comes from the state food safety authorities, who have issued a formal notification prohibiting the sale and storage of analogue paneer. All food businesses are required to adhere to these regulations to ensure compliance and protect the welfare of the community.
Karnataka bans non-dairy paneer for a year, cites public health concerns
In a notification, Karnataka's Food Safety and Drug Administration said it was prohibiting the manufacturing, processing, packing, storage, distribution, transportation, wholesale and retail sale, display for sale and supply of non-dairy or analogue paneer being sold under the name 'paneer' till August 17 next year.
Following Maharashtra, Karnataka has also banned the storage, sale, and supply of analog cheese. However, this ban is currently only for one year.
