KKR to Pay $250 Million to Resolve DOJ Merger Filing Lawsuit
Private equity giant KKR & Co. has agreed to pay $250 million to resolve a civil antitrust case filed by the US Justice Department alleging the investment firm intentionally withheld documents from government-required merger reviews on more than a dozen deals, the largest-ever penalty for filing violations.
The financial investor has reached a settlement with the US Treasury Department in an antitrust case, agreeing to pay $250 million. KKR is accused of circumventing disclosure requirements in at least 16 acquisitions. This is the highest penalty of its kind.
The U.S. private equity company is criticized by the Department of Justice for at least breaching the rules for prior notification of M & A transactions on 16 occasions.
