Kioxia Announces KIOXIA GP1 Series Super High IOPS SSDs for AI Applications
The new SSDs use Kioxia XL-FLASH generation 2 and deliver up to 10 million random read IOPS for AI storage systems.
- On Tuesday, August 4, Kioxia Corporation announced the KIOXIA GP1 Series PCIe 6.0 NVMe SSDs, the first product in its Super High IOPS SSDs line optimized for GPU direct access.
- The KIOXIA GP1 Series supports emerging AI storage architectures by extending High Bandwidth Memory as a fast flash memory tier, allowing AI systems to access larger datasets at lower costs than adding more HBM.
- Leveraging KIOXIA XL-FLASH generation 2, the units deliver up to 10 million random read IOPS with finer-grained 512-byte data access and support up to 50 DWPD endurance.
- Kioxia showcased the new hardware at the Future of Memory and Storage conference in Santa Clara, which concluded on Thursday, with evaluation samples available to select customers by the end of 2026.
- The architecture is designed to scale from current 10 million random read IOPS to future generations targeting up to 100 million IOPS, reflecting Kioxia's commitment to memory-based value through BiCS FLASH technology.
