King Charles' Nephew Chooses University After Passing A-Levels
James, 18, will study rural land and property management after A-level results topped 900,000 entries for the first time, officials said.
- On Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced that James, Earl of Wessex, will attend the Royal Agricultural University in September to study Rural Land & Property Management after receiving his A-level results.
- Although the first British royal to attend the university, James follows family interests in land management, including his late grandfather Prince Philip, the former Windsor Great Park ranger, and Captain Mark Phillips.
- The degree covers "the fundamentals of rural professional practice as well as planning and development," equipping James to assist with royal estates, including the King's 131,000-acre property portfolio.
- His sister Lady Louise Windsor recently graduated from the University of St Andrews, while James is not expected to become a working royal, potentially supporting King Charles as a private citizen.
- Joining a family of agricultural advocates, James enters university during a year with 900,000 A-level entries, alongside his mother Duchess Sophie and cousin Prince William, who manages the Duchy of Cornwall.
