King Charles Applauded as Dragons' Den Star Among 15 Stripped of MBE
The honours system has revoked 22 awards since last August, including an MBE, an OBE and a knighthood, after convictions and censure.
King Charles has stripped 15 individuals of their UK honours, including a former Dragons' Den star and a leading politician, following criminal convictions and professional censure.
Oxfordshire Conservatives leader Liam Walker commended His Majesty for the removals, stating that "stripping those honours helps protect the integrity and value of the honours system" after Jeffrey Donaldson's knighthood was removed.
Former Dragons' Den star Julie Meyer lost her MBE for bringing the system into disrepute after failing to pay £200,000 in unpaid fees to her solicitors.
Councillor Susanna Pressel supported the removals, saying "it shows that there is good and bad in everyone" and that predicting such behavior remains difficult.
Since August last year, 22 people have had their honours revoked for criminal convictions or professional censure, including a former BBC star convicted of child sex offences in 2024.
