Prime Minister Kim Min-sok announced on the 13th (local time) that he held a surprise meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump for about 20 minutes at the White House in Washington, D.C. During a meeting with the Korean press corps while visiting the United States, Prime Minister Kim stated, "A significant portion of the conversation was President Trump asking for my views on the North Korean issue."

"The government's position on the North Korea-US summit does not depend solely on how likely it is, but is based on considering that this meeting should take place," Chung said in statements to the press, according to Yonhap news agency.
