Kids running lemonade stand robbed by armed thieves in Boston
Police say the children were asked about Apple Pay before a suspect grabbed the cash box and flashed a gun.
- On Friday, Boston Police arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with the armed robbery of a children's lemonade stand in South Boston. The teenager faces charges of armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm in Boston Juvenile Court.
- The incident occurred Wednesday on West Ninth Street, where 12-year-old Dylan Byrne and 11-year-old Juliette Byrne were operating a lemonade stand. Two masked individuals approached the siblings, demanded the cash box, and displayed a firearm.
- "He walked over here and said, 'I might need to grab the box,' and he grabbed it with one hand and then he showed us the gun," Dylan Byrne told WBZ. His sister, Juliette, surrendered the box immediately.
- Mayor Michelle Wu and Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn joined the children on Friday as they reopened their stand. Flynn stated that half of the proceeds will be donated to a local organization working to prevent gun violence.
- Detectives continue to investigate the robbery while seeking the public's help to identify a second suspect. Anyone with information is urged to contact Boston Police or submit an anonymous tip through the CrimeStoppers program by calling 1-800-494-TIPS.
