Football Icon Kenny Dalglish Shares Cancer Diagnosis in Emotional Update
The Liverpool icon said treatment is going well and asked for privacy after an accidental social media post forced him to disclose the diagnosis.
On Wednesday, Liverpool icon Sir Kenny Dalglish, 75, announced he is undergoing cancer treatment after an inadvertent social media post forced him to go public with his diagnosis.
Widely regarded as one of Liverpool's greatest players, Dalglish won six league titles and three European Cups as a player, then guided Blackburn Rovers to the Premier League title during the 1994/95 season.
Former players including Robbie Keane, Alan Shearer, and Jamie Carragher sent messages of support, while Liverpool FC stated, 'The support, best wishes and love of everyone at Liverpool FC are, and will continue to be, with Sir Kenny and his family.'
Paul Dalglish called his father 'the strongest man I know' and noted he handles challenges with 'courage, humour, and dignity,' while the family requested privacy during treatment.
Dalglish was at Anfield as recently as last week for farewell celebrations for Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson; he stated treatment 'is going well' and thanked medical staff for their 'incredible care and discretion.
Sir Kenny Dalglish is making a serious mistake. A social media post he has dropped off suggests that he is seriously ill. Later he admits it. He had something else in mind.
