Grandfather, Grandson Charged in Violent Crime Spree Involving Kidnapping, Carjacking
The indictment accuses Michael T. Lomax and Mario O. Lomax of using guns, kidnapping and stealing a truck during a March crime spree.
A federal grand jury charged Michael Lomax, 57, and Mario Lomax, 19, on Tuesday for their roles in a violent crime spree, according to the Department of Justice.
Probable cause documents allege that on March 25, 2026, masked assailants stormed into a home and ordered a 63-year-old victim to the floor at gunpoint before forcing the victim into the basement.
While fleeing the scene, the suspects encountered a Chevy Silverado with children inside and pointed their guns at the child in the backseat before stealing the truck, cellphones, medication, and bags.
Investigators identified the Lomaxes using surveillance video, GPS, and witness accounts, moving the case from Jackson County to federal jurisdiction to pursue an eighteen-count indictment.
If convicted of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and discharging firearms, both Michael and Mario face a minimum of 24 years in federal prison and a maximum of life without parole.
