The three WNBA head coaches also worked the March qualifying staff as the U.S. seeks a fifth straight title.
On Thursday, May 7, 2026, USA Basketball named Nate Tibbetts, Natalie Nakase, and Stephanie White as assistants to head coach Kara Lawson for the FIBA World Cup in Berlin this September.
This coaching trio previously served on staff during the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in Puerto Rico this March, reuniting the same team structure for the National Team program.
Tibbetts heads the Phoenix Mercury, Nakase leads the Golden State Valkyries, and White coaches the Indiana Fever, each bringing extensive WNBA and international basketball experience to the program.
Running September 4-13, the FIBA World Cup will trigger a league-wide WNBA break, allowing players to represent their countries during the tournament.
USA Basketball will select the roster this summer, with Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston potentially joining veterans Breanna Stewart and Wilson in pursuit of a fifth consecutive World Cup title.
