Kamala Harris returns to campaign trail as 2028 speculation grows
Harris urged union canvassers to help Democrats in tight races as hundreds of members logged thousands of hours of door-knocking, union leaders said.
On Wednesday, former Vice President Kamala Harris rallied with Culinary Workers Union Local 226 members in Las Vegas, kicking off a multistate campaign push for Democrats with less than two weeks before Election Day.
Widely considered a potential contender for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, Harris is returning to active campaigning after her unsuccessful 2024 bid, which would mark a third presidential campaign in four election cycles if she runs.
Harris endorsed Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford for governor and U.S. Rep. Dina Titus for re-election, while criticizing President Donald Trump's administration and telling union members, "that era is over because we are now 13 days away from doing something about it."
Republicans countered with their own surrogates: House Speaker Mike Johnson campaigned Tuesday for congressional candidates, while Governor Joe Lombardo's campaign posted on X that the rally was a "questionable choice" for Ford's allies.
Culinary Union President Diana Valles emphasized that the election outcome will depend on member engagement, noting volunteers have spent thousands of hours knocking on doors "one by one" to influence results.
