Former Vice President Kamala Harris Accuses Republicans of "Cheating" Ahead of Midterms
Harris said redistricting and voting restrictions are making it harder for Americans to vote, while the Republican National Committee pushed back.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris accused Republicans of "cheating" ahead of November's midterm elections, arguing that redistricting and voting restrictions make it harder for Americans to cast ballots.
The Republican National Committee rejected the allegations, with communications director Ally Triolo defending voter ID and citizenship requirements; President Donald Trump mirrored the rhetoric, telling supporters "I'm going to try and cheat like hell."
Democratic candidates in competitive states have publicly rejected campaigning with Harris; Wisconsin Democrat Rebecca Cooke noted she received 9,000 more votes than Harris in her district in 2024.
Harris said she is spending full-time trying to help Democrats take back the House and Senate and "stop the madness," telling Megan Rapinoe she wants to restore "some sense of sanity" to Washington.
When asked about a 2028 presidential bid, Harris told Rapinoe that "28 doesn't matter if we don't win 26," prioritizing the midterms as her immediate political focus.
