Kalshi Partners with Alpaca to Expand Prediction Markets Globally
The partnership gives Kalshi access to Alpaca’s 14 million brokerage accounts as it expands event contracts to more countries.
- Prediction market platform Kalshi is partnering with brokerage infrastructure startup Alpaca to bring event contracts to an international audience. Individuals using Alpaca's platform will access Kalshi's markets through existing trading technology.
- Leveraging Alpaca's reach to more than 300 financial institutions and 14 million brokerage accounts globally, the partnership accelerates Kalshi's international expansion strategy. Once local regulatory approvals are secured, prediction markets will launch faster in new regions.
- Alpaca serves 83,000 monthly users of its Application Programming Interface, enabling developers to build custom trading software. "They're a trusted brand, they're technology forward, their customers love working with them," Max Crowley, vice president of business development at Kalshi, said.
- Earlier this month, Alpaca registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a U.S.-licensed futures commission merchant. The partnership follows Kalshi's June collaboration with Canadian firm Wealthsimple to expand event contracts beyond U.S. borders.
- Yoshi Yokokawa, co-founder and CEO of Alpaca, acknowledged that international scaling will take time but represents a major opportunity. "As that scales," Yokokawa said, "I think it should be pretty meaningful for event contracts as an asset class.
