Unresponsive Teenage Boy Pulled From Pond in Andover, Massachusetts
Crews found the juvenile about 25 feet from shore in 10 to 12 feet of water, and his condition remains unknown, police said.
On Tuesday, an unresponsive juvenile was pulled from Field Pond in Andover after emergency crews responded to reports of a swimmer who did not resurface at Harold Parker State Forest.
First responders utilized a paddle board and personal flotation devices to locate the youth submerged in 10-12 feet of water, approximately 25 feet from the shore.
Andover Fire Chief Kyle Murphy said two firefighters and a police officer jumped into the pond to rescue the boy, immediately performing life-saving measures upon reaching the shore.
Following initial treatment at Lawrence General Hospital, the juvenile was transported via medical helicopter to a Boston hospital for further care.
An investigation into the incident is underway, while Murphy urged swimmers to prioritize safety and consider wearing life jackets in potentially hazardous water.
