'Just in shock': 13-year-old golfing phenom wins golf title in B.C. with playoff ace

On Sunday, August 16, 13-year-old Bentley Hoogerdyk won his second straight Bear Mountain Golf Club Championship with a hole-in-one during a playoff on the 10th hole.
Hoogerdyk and Fraser Mackie entered the playoff tied at nine-over-par after 36 holes, with Mackie forcing sudden death by carding three birdies over the final five holes.
Stepping up with an eight-iron on the 129-yard hole, Hoogerdyk aimed to attack the pin. "I was just in shock because it was only my first hole-in-one in a tournament," Hoogerdyk said.
The victory marked a back-to-back title for Hoogerdyk in a field open to golfers of all ages, with Tyler Hoogerdyk confirming the ball was in the cup.
Hoogerdyk earned a berth in the third stage of the Drive, Chip & Putt competition at Pebble Beach after finishing second among 14 competitors in DuPont, Wash., with September events ahead.
