Local potatoes grown using conventional methods are as free of pesticides as organic food, according to the work of Ave Kutman, a junior researcher at Tartu Health Care College, who analyzed Tartu school food. Efforts to further increase the share of organic food may force schools to prefer raw materials brought from far away, which burdens the environment.
