July ‘Out of the Blue’ spotlights School of Music campaign, MTSU Police and America 250 celebration [+VIDEO]

Dr. Andrew Oppmann MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The July episode of “Out of the Blue,” Middle Tennessee State University’s television program, features a campaign supporting student musicians, the MTSU Police Department and the university’s America 250 celebration. This month’s episode takes viewers inside the School of Music’s first-ever capital campaign, “Where Every Note Counts,” which aims to expand scholarship opportunities for music students and members of the Band of Blue. It also offers a closer look at the MTSU Police Department and the resources available to keep the campus community safe, before highlighting the university’s ongoing America 250 programming led by the University Honors College. This month’s guests were interviewed by program host Andrew Oppmann, vice president of the Division of Marketing and Communications. Dr. Jennifer Snodgrass July’s guests include: Karli Sutton • Jenny Snodgrass, director of MTSU’s School of Music, discusses the launch of the “Where Every Note Counts” campaign. She explains how the initiative will expand scholarship opportunities, support student musicians across campus and help the university recruit and retain talented performers. • Karli Sutton, reporter for True Blue TV, takes viewers inside the MTSU Police Department to highlight its around-the-clock public safety services. The story explores resources including safety escorts, Operation ID, the department’s K-9 unit and Raider Patrol, while showcasing the department’s commitment to serving the campus community. Dr. John Vile Dr. Amy Sayward • John Vile, dean of the University Honors College, and Amy Sayward, director of MTSU’s American Democracy Project, preview the university’s America 250 celebration. They discuss a yearlong lineup of lectures, exhibits, Constitution Day activities and community events designed to encourage civic engagement while commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
