Wood Brothers Done with Racer Josh Berry After 2026 NASCAR Season
Berry said Wood Brothers Racing will not exercise his option for 2027 as the team prepares to name a replacement soon.
Josh Berry will not return to the No. 21 Ford for Wood Brothers Racing in 2027, the team confirmed Wednesday, June 10, ending their partnership after the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Wood Brothers Racing decided not to exercise Berry's option for 2027, a move Berry said he was '50-50' on expecting, as the team stated they are moving in a 'different direction' after two seasons together.
In 41 starts with the organization, Berry has struggled to find consistency despite a 2025 Las Vegas victory; he currently ranks 30th in the standings with four DNFs in 15 races this season.
The vacancy leaves one of the most coveted seats in the Ford camp open for 2027, and Wood Brothers Racing plans to announce a replacement driver soon while Berry focuses on finishing the current year strong.
This departure marks another significant shift in NASCAR's 'silly season,' following 23XI Racing's recent announcement that Corey Heim will join its lineup next year as the driver market continues to evolve ahead of 2027.
