Herbert Föttinger, long-time director of the Theater in der Josefstadt, is facing allegations, according to a report in the "Standard" (online edition). Numerous current and former employees speak of a "permanent atmosphere of fear" in relation to Föttinger's management style. Furthermore, sexual assaults by an actor were inadequately prosecuted. The theater has announced that it will investigate the matter, and Föttinger has apologized.
